How to compare flight fares without losing the plot

A practical way to weigh price, schedule, baggage, change rules, and total trip friction.

A lower number is not automatically a better itinerary. Start by comparing the full trip: departure windows, connection quality, airport changes, baggage, and the cost of changing plans.

Use price as the opening question, not the final answer. A slightly higher fare can be the better value when it avoids an overnight connection, includes the baggage you need, or offers more workable change conditions.

When the tradeoffs are close, ask a specialist to explain what is actually included before you commit.
